Is the Ice Cream truck an American phenomenon?

Come to think of it, is it a U.S. phenomenon? I have no idea.

I do, however, know that cherry Screwballs and pineapple-cherry Swirls are divine and almost impossible to get anywhere else, and I bought one for myself and for C, and we are well pleased.

Hi!

I'm from South Africa and just thought I'd let you know that we have ice cream trucks here, too. But we're going into winter now (such as it is) so we won't be hearing the bell/music (depending on the owner's preference) too often now.

Best,

We call them ice-cream vans but we have them in the UK. They used to go around and play chimes so people would know they were at a particular spot. One still sees them.

Plus they sometimes sell lager and lime ice lollies, which are ungettable in the U.S. Sigh.
